Frequently asked

You need a Raspberry Pi 4 or Pi 5 (we recommend Pi 5), a microSD card or SSD, a power supply, and an HDMI cable to connect to your TV. Any TV or monitor with an HDMI input works. We can advise on a suitable kit, typical budget Pi kit costs around £105. Hardware is sold separately from the KastVue software licence.
No. The installer handles everything automatically. You flash the Pi OS to a card, copy the KastVue installer onto it, connect to Wi-Fi, and run one command. Remote setup support is included with every purchase, we'll walk you through it on a video call, or guide you via WhatsApp at your pace.
No. KastVue runs entirely on your local network and works perfectly without internet. Wi-Fi is only needed to access the admin panel from your phone, and even then it's your local Wi-Fi, not the internet. If your broadband goes down, your display keeps running.
The Pi is a standard £60–80 component available on Amazon next day. Your KastVue licence transfers to any Pi, simply run the installer on the new hardware. We can assist you remotely with the migration.
Yes, any TV or monitor with an HDMI input works. Smart TVs, commercial displays, older flat screens, if it has HDMI, KastVue will work with it. We recommend leaving the screen on a KastVue HDMI input and letting KastVue's display scheduling handle on/off automatically.
Your licence is perpetual, it never expires. An optional annual support plan (£20/year) covers future feature updates and ongoing email support. Without it, your display continues working as purchased, you just won't receive new features as they're released.
